In the quest for discounted high street brands don’t miss out on local artisans who are still hand-stitching shoes.  Shoe making is concentrated around the towns of Montegranaro, Monte Urano,  Civitanova Marche, Porto Sant ‘Elpidio and Sant’Elpidio a Mare.

We mustn’t forget hats – a great fashion accessory.  Hat-making is another skill for which Le Marche is world-renowned.  Most Italian hats are made in and around the small town of Montappone where they make anything from a baseball cap to high-fashion cat walk creations.  The Sorbatti family, who are famous for their Panama hats, have an outlet shop in Montappone where it is possible to admire, try and buy the latest styles at prices well below the normal shop prices.
